During his collegiate career he won numerous honors both in academics and athletics. He was a two time NCAA Championship Qualifier and also qualified for the 1996 Olympic Trials but was unable to compete due to injury which later required surgery. He graduated Summa Cum Laude and also was awarded the Gerald M. Gussack M.D. award for graduating first in his class in Cell and Molecular Biology.

Following college, Dr. Junius attended LSU School of Medicine in New Orleans. There he continued throwing the javelin until another injury ended his track and field career. However, after scoring in the 97th percentile on his national board exam he accepted an Orthopedic Surgery Residency position in Fort Worth, Texas

Dr. Junius learned from many nationally renowned Orthopedic surgeons while in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. He brings many state of the art and minimally invasive surgical techniques to New Orleans in areas such as sports medicine, joint replacement, hand surgery, and fracture care. Additionally, Dr. Junius is one of the only physicians in the New Orleans area approved by the FDA to implant the Oxford Unicompartmental Knee Replacement. This innovative procedure is an alternative to total knee replacement for many patients.

Dr. Junius is eager to be a part of the rebuilding of New Orleans and since his return he has served as the team physician at Archbishop Rummel High School.

Currently, Dr. Junius resides in New Orleans with his wife and his five children.
